Love is In the Air

As we step into February, the month often associated with love and affection, we are reminded of the profound power of love in our lives and our community. Valentine’s Day serves as a beautiful reminder to reflect on the relationships we cherish, but as followers of Christ, we know that love is at the heart of our faith every day.

In 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, we read about the qualities of love: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres.” Those verses remind us to embody love not just in our romantic relationships but in all our interactions whether with family, friends, or even strangers.

This month, we encourage everyone to take part in our special events aimed at fostering connections and strengthening our bonds as a church family. Join us on February 9th for our Valentine’s Spaghetti Dinner, where we will be sharing some great food and heartfelt conversations. There is a sign up sheet at the church Welcome Center for the items we need donated. This is a fundraiser for the Youth Fund, so come and enjoy a meal filled with laughter and fellowship.

We also will be concluding our Souper Bowl of Caring on February 9th that benefits the Bridge City/Orangefield Ministerial Alliance. We are collecting food and money to help feed those who are in need of food. There is a sheet you can pick up at the tables to let you know what we are collecting this year. It is also a competition between the AFC and NFC, so let’s see who will win. We will conclude this event with a Super Bowl party at the church building at 5 p.m.

Let us also take a moment to pray for those who may find this season challenging. For those who are grieving, feeling alone, or facing difficulties, we want to extend our love and support. Remember, you are not alone; our church family is here for you.

As we embrace the spirit of love this February, let us be intentional about how we express it in our lives. May we be vessels of God’s love, shining His light in a world that so desperately needs it. Wishing you all a month filled with love, joy, and connection.
