We hope and pray that you all are being safe and that everyone is in good health. Due to the recommendations by the CDC and the local authorities, we regret to inform you that the physical church facility will remain closed for at least until April 30. We will, however, continue to hold worship services and other events and classes online on Facebook. [Also working on another possibly way so more people can tune in.]

We know, for many people, this leads to questions about Easter. How can we possibly have online Easter?!? Let’s take a few minutes to think about what that means. What is Easter all about? It is about life and hope. It is a celebration of a time when everything was dark, bleak, and hopeless. For the disciples, the one they thought was the Messiah has just been crucified, and they are now in hiding. For the Romans, it was just another day at the office. And even for our Lord hanging on the cross, it was a dark time when He couldn’t necessarily see the next step, leading Him to cry out, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken Me?”

It is, however, in the midst of the apparent darkness and hopelessness of Friday that we get the light of Easter Sunday. At its core then, Easter is about new life during a time of death. It is about hope in a time of hopelessness, and ultimately it is about God’s victory over death!

So yes, we will have Easter service online because the location does not matter. What matters is the message that Easter communicates during this time of death, distress, fear, and hopelessness. First Christian Church Orangefield will be a beacon of light to the world, and we cannot wait for you to join us.
